On a trip to Florence to visit my sister who was living there at the time, and having never been before, she took me on a tour of the city and I was struck by the religious architecture, The cathedral, basilica and the churches in the city are all faced with beautiful polished marble organised in striking geometric grids in shades of green, white, pink and brown. I immediately knew that I wanted to use these buildings as a reference, the buildings were a perfect marriage of colour or geometry. The result being the Intersection series, the first pieces I created were large scale wall hangings, having decided to focus on weaving as an art form in itself at the beginning of 2020.
